Finding a charity is not always easy. You need to bear in mind the following points when seeking to give money to charity:

• Can you afford it? No one has a crystal ball - or at least one that works - sometime down the track you may have unexpected expences. Only give to Charity what you know you can do without.
• Is it worthwhile? Abandoned puppies are very cute. But in Africa (and of course elsewhere) children are dying unnecessarily.
• Short term gains or long term projects. Some charities are great at handing out food and blankets, and some teach better farming practices.
• A real Charity. Make sure you're dealing with a legitimate charity and not some online scam.

Most people feel good when they help others. So if you can afford it - you will benefit from being charitable.
